Music and Family

For this blog, I decided to interview Shannon Good ( my mother. ) I chose to interview her because I know interviewing someone like my father would be very easy since he was surrounded and participated in music his  life ! I wanted to do my mother because she lived a life with music very different than me. My whole life is music and everyday in my life surrounds around music. I was very curious to hear her opinion on things since the only basic music she had was band class. This interview is very casual and comfortable since it is my mother and we did this in the comfort of my own home. So hopefully no one has any high professional expectations :) Thank you guys so much and I look forward to reading your comments !!

  1. I loved making the connections between our moms since they both grew up in the same time period. The musical tastes that your mom had was and is very different than mine, but they were both in a society where parents didn't approve of rock and metal music and I found that to be very interesting. I also think it's interesting how both of our moms were never really into playing music in band. It's cool having a southern 80s perspective since my mother is from the north!

  2. Kaylyn, you're a great conversationalist! I enjoyed watching this sweet interview between you and your mom. I love that her favorite genre is gospel. I think that's really cool.

  3. It's so funny that the recorder is the universal instrument for kids, and has been for decades! Your family really likes country music! I really like what your mother said about how music evolved from the 80's, being "a little more crazy." I agree with her that the lyrics in a song can make someone feel connected to it. I know there is plenty of music where the story that the artist is telling stands out to me more than anything.
